This course provides an insight into many of the major movements and accomplishments that have occurred in 澳大利亚n art. Each topic will look at specific works of art and the historical and sociological context in which they were produced. The influence of international art movements on 澳大利亚n art will be examined. The major ideas and issues regarding Aboriginal art will be introduced, focusing on the themes of tradition, identity and place. The course also investigates the influence and contribution to 澳大利亚n art of feminism and multiculturalism. By exploring different approaches to 澳大利亚n art students will gain a greater understanding of 澳大利亚n society and culture and how it reveals itself through art.
